How can I vacuum seal liquid-rich ingredients with the Handheld Vac 'n Seal?
Yes, you can use the Handheld Vac 'n Seal to freeze soups, stews, and chilis. The key is to fill the bags and place them lower than the countertop so when you vacuum the bag tight, you can monitor the liquid and not suck it into the device. Once the liquid rises to the valve area on the bag, stop vacuuming and place into the freezer. I use this trick a lot - open the first drawer and place a cutting board over it to provide a platform. Fill, press out as much air as possible, and zipper the bag closed before placing it on the cutting board so the valve is laying face up on the countertop. Then vacuum the bag until the liquid rises to the valve and stop. Be sure to not suck liquid into the Handheld Vac 'n Seal!
